EVAPORATIVE COOLING FOR YOUR PHARMACEUTICAL STORAGE FACILITY
Pharmaceutical wholesalers are licensed by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The MHRA set out strict requirements for the storage of medicines and healthcare products. Specifically, MHRA provides criteria for the temperature of the storage.
MHRA temperature compliance criteria:
- Mean Kinetic Temperature must not exceed 25°C over a 7-day period.
- Absolute maximum temperature shall never exceed 30°C
To meet these criteria, most pharmaceutical warehouses use ventilation to keep products cool, as refrigerant-based air conditioning is prohibitively expensive. In our experience, during prolonged periods of high temperature, ventilation alone cannot maintain compliance with MHRA criteria. However, evaporative cooling can ensure full compliance with the MHRA rules in both a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner.
